Course Overview

Introduction to Behavioral & Mental Health Care 1 & 2

This program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the behavioral/mental health fields. Students will study common behavioral health disorders and spectra; legal, professional; and ethical issues;
various communication techniques including therapeutic communication and motivational interviewing. Students will be concurrently enrolled in PSY101 and PSY102 and have the opportunity to earn college credit.

Advanced Behavioral & Mental Health Care 3 & 4

In this advanced course students will continue to expand their knowledge in all concepts introduced in the level one course. Students will study human growth and development from conception through death, emphasizing physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial factors; and will also examine abnormal behavior and its classifications, causes, treatment, and prevention. Students may have the opportunity to earn college credit and to receive a certificate in motivational interviewing.
